Ashland History

Located at the site of a low-water limestone ledge along the bottom of Salt Creek, Ashland was a stop along the Oxbow Trail, a variant route of the Oregon Trail, which ran from Nebraska city to Fort Kearney. It's close proximity to Omaha and Lincoln offers a type of bedroom community with rural character and a charming downtown.

Ashland and the area has been known for its Tourism as three of the most popular attractions in the state are located within 4 miles of Ashland. This is the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Mahoney State Park, and the Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari. Being a small little community located conveniently between Omaha and Lincoln, Ashland makes a great spot to call home. But don't take our word for it, here's what folks say about living in Ashland.

"This town really is the perfect small town. The entire community is great about coming together and helping each other in times of need. The entire community also supports the school's activities, sports, and extracurricular. Ashland is also right in between Lincoln and Omaha which makes it easy to access the big city very easily. Just from growing up in this town, I know I would be more than happy to come back and raise my family here too after college." - Niche.com
